Summer Galaxy over the Poloniny
This portrait of the summer Milky Way from northern hemisphere comes from a magical
Slovakian place called
Poloniny. Not far from a triple border of Ukraine, Poland and wonderful Slovakia, the
Poloniny Dark-Sky Park was declared in
the end of 2010 as reaction for
world’s fights against the artificial
light pollution. Patroned by
Ivan Bella, the first Slovakian astronaut, the park offers one of the most beautiful views in the sky in the
central Europe so far. Even if some far cities don’t give a totally natural dark skies, the place magnifies the attractiveness by wonderful public
observatory and planetarium in the Kolonica saddle, located in south-west border of the park. Here I spent so beautiful moments, while
observing the annual Perseid meteor shower of 2015. Captured on 10th August 2015, used Canon 6D IR Baader modified, Samyang 24 mm, f2.8, ISO 8000, 16×15 seconds panorama from tripod.
