This year’s Perseid meteor shower promised a wonderful celestial show under the dark starry sky, far away from the harmful light pollution from the cities. Thus I traveled south to the dark place of Crete Island, Greece. Despite the lower frequency of the meteors during the expected Perseid’s peak, there was still so much to watch! The beautiful part of the Milky Way across the Summer Triangle asterism was visible always the whole night and so many bright meteors appeared in front of this sky part. As a bonus, thanks to moonless nights, not only meteors but also naked-eye visible Nova RS in Ophiuchus was an easy target for astrophotography. But of course, no image can describe the personal experience under such a naturally dark sky. Hundreds of meteors shined in the sky during the maximum night 12/13 August 2021. Used Canon Ra, Samyang 24mm, ISO 2000, 42x30s with f3.2 (stacked foreground) and 26 images of meteors (30s, f1.4), captured between 9 and 14 August 2021 from Vixen Polarie U and tripod. Another image gives opportunity to see deep view to the surrounding of the Perseus constellation when the Perseid meteor shower peaks. Such a beautiful view when considering the variety of brightness of the meteors. This image contains 65 of them, captured during 5 days (between 9 and 14 August 2021). Used Canon Ra, Samyang 24mm, ISO 2000, 42x30s with f3.2 (stacked foreground) and 26 images of meteors (30s, f1.4) from Vixen Polarie U and tripod.
