The starry waterfall

The starry waterfall

The starry waterfall

All my life, full 30 years, I was dreaming about this. Seč reservoir is not only place to swim of to fish, but to live in mesmerizing nature of the Iron mountains. Naturally, lot of rocks can be found around, many of them inside the thick woods. But on the base of the highest one, just where the Chrudimka river turns its direction, has unbeatable best view. Sitting nearby the ruins of Oheb, old castle of early 14th century (included in UNESCO heritage), you can look far away over the horizon and enjoy the small and very popular island of this lake, the national natural reservation. I have been here so many times, I cannot even count. Like child, I spent here lot of fun with some members of my family, but also with friends or alone, just to relax and listen to the calm wind. But – even if it would sound incredible – this was the first time ever I came here in the night to see the starry sky. Reason is simple: the rocks are very treacherous and someone who doesn’t know the place, could get to harm danger. When I first stood up on the rock and finally saw the Milky Way over the beloved place, I the dream came true. The Milky Way literally seemed like a far waterfall, falling silently in the lake behind the woods.

Looking in the starry part of the image, you can find many well known object of the northern sky. The brightest star is Vega, one of the brightest stars in the sky. On the left, just over the trees is notorious Andromeda Galaxy. Significant pink nebula on the top is NGC 7000 called “North America nebula”. You can also notice colorful structures of the sky background caused by airglow. The harmful light pollution is over the western horizon, coming from Čáslav city. Used Canon 6D Baader IR modified, Samyang 24 mm, f2.8, ISO 10000, 47x15s panorama from tripod.
