Jupiter’s corona
Not only the Moon or Sun can be source of atmospheric optical phenomenon called
corona. Here is wonderful case of appearance of the corona around bright planet Jupiter. While thin clouds were slowly moving in front of it, the moonlit of young Moon illuminated the foreground of
northern Atacama desert, Chile, with numerous volcanoes over the horizon. Red and green colors in the sky are caused by
atmospheric airlow and you can also recognize known
Leo (Lion) constellation, orientated upside-down in the southern hemisphere. The shot was taken on 11th April, 2016, using Canon 6D Baader IR modified, Samyang 24 mm, f2.8, ISO 6400, 3x15s panorama from tripod.
