Perseids 2016 over picturesque Vrchteplá
Thirty years ago, in 1986, begun one of the most known Slovakian astronomical tradition called “
Expedícia Perzeidy“. Over these years, more than 24 thousands of
Perseids were scientifically recorded and reported to
International Meteor Organisation. Last 20 years of this tradition, the (international) Perseids expedition is organzized by
Púchov eko-astro club, Astronomy Club of Juraj Bardy and
Astronomy Club of Povazska Bystrica on a hill above picturesque Slovakian village Vrchteplá. Dozens of astronomers among all ages build up their tents and astronomical equipment every year just to enjoy another celestial show despite not negligible light pollution from around. This shots show the moments of 6th to 8th August 2016, when I visited the place, met the wonderful people there and enjoyed a part of the annual Perseid show before I
moved to Králova Studňa for the even better view to the 2016 Perseids peak. Used Canon 6D Baader modified, Samyang 24 mm, f2.0-2.8, ISO 8000, panoramas from tripod (for meteors were done some timelapsing shooting during the nights with Sigma 15 mm, f2,8).
