Celestial conjunction over Garching

Celestial conjunction over Garching

… and the spectacular celestial conjuction continues. Today, on 18th April 2018, the young Moon appeared closer to the Aldebaran and Hyades star cluster, while bright Venus and Pleiades were their beautiful accompanions in the dusk show.

I was watching the phenomenon through the glassed wall of seminar room in upper deck of brand new ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre. It is the first open-source planetarium in the world, built close to the ESO Headquarters in Garching bei München, Germany. After years of construction, the ESO Supernova is going to be opened for public on 28th April 2018, offering to wide public rich program and activities, including spectacular interactive exhibitions, planetarium shows, lot of educational opportunities, and these wonderful views to the sky as well. Used Canon 6D, Canon 14mm, f4.5, ISO 800, 5s exposure from tripod.
