Finally on New Zealand! After first meeting with Kiwis I decided to see some place with darker night sky. Because of necessary administrative staying in Auckland first days the weekend I spent on beautiful island Waiheke nearby the city. Except absolutely breathtaking sunset over the north Oneroa beach I finally saw dreamt southern Milky way. It was cold morning on 13th April in Hekerua backpackers and I woke up earlier before the dusk. I just looked up and couldn’t breath for couple seconds. The center of Milky way was like a river of milk of just like a clouds above my head. Then I realized the dusk is coming, so I took my camera, tripod and took those images. Strong zodiacal light and Venus like a briliant was the ideal objects for first testing of quality Kiwi’s night sky. First image I personally call “While the backpackers were sleeping”. Used Canon 6D, Sigma 15 mm, 14×20 s, ISO 8000, f2,8, little planet panorama…
On the second image you can see the structures of central Milky way captured on only one exposure!!! Used Canon 6D, Sigma 15 mm, 20 s, ISO 10000, f3,5. The third one shows colorful sunset over the Oneroa village and beaches. It’s HDR from Canon 6D, Sigma 15 mm, f8, ISO 200.
