Southern universe

From Scorpius to Crux

From Scorpius to Crux

Even if there is no up or down in the Universe, from the Earth people directly distinguish south and north. Especially if talking about specific parts of the sky. And this is the prove. Probably the most part of Milky way – from the Scorpius to Southern Cross is almost whole domain of southern hemisphere. No one, who likes the night sky, can’t say opposite. Dark nebulae close to Rho Ophiuchi region, Dark coalsack in the cross or Large Magellanic cloud just a few arc degrees from the south pole. This is just a tip of the iceberg hiding so many amazing and unique objects in this sky area. And everything easily visible through binoculars just far enough from big cities. Like I did on 20th June 2014 from Te Mata Peak. Image is result of longer processing – panorama of 4 singular segments, each by Canon 6D, Samyang 24 mm, f2, ISO 4000, 63×10 s, darkframes applied. Used only tripod, but still great result thanks to the dark skies here.
