Auroral flowerpot with the Milky plant

Another auroras burned very low above the south horizon on 24th September, here at NIWA atmostheric station, Lauder, New Zealand. The opened dome is actually new BOOTES telescope prepaired for exciting detecting GRBs from here. Green color of the dome is caused by reflection of the green light from lidar behind me. As I finished the composition, it looked like a Auroral flowerpot with Milky plant. Used Canon 6D, Samyang 24 mm, f2, ISO 6400, 11×15 s panorama, tripod.

Nultifarious Night Above The Lauder

Nultifarious Night Above The Lauder

As on Spaceweather.com was predicted, the auroral activity lighted up such and brought a beautiful and colorful auroras. It was just low above the horizon, but I didn’t mind, because it wasn’t all. While the aurora danced, there was still the column of the zodiacal light continuing to the other part of the sky with Gegenschein. Majestic Milky Way lied up like a pier there in the sky and two Magellanic clouds were visible too. Also very strong lidar of NIWA institute, measuring the ozone layer, pointed above the head in the moment. So very nultifarious night… Used Canon 6D, Samyang 24 mm, f2, ISO 6400, 43×15 s panorama, tripod.
